Great post Dave.  I really appreciate that you are creating awareness around the quality of social sites and contact trading sites. The trend truly is moving in the direction of these sites more than ever these days since they are free.  I use the term “free” very loosely as I have found the quality to be sub-par (to put it in very kind words!).  In fact I did a research analysis report that compares how accurate and how current information is across 7 different types of resources (press releases, industry trade publications, award shows, company websites, professional associations,social networking sites, and UGC sites).  I will send it over to you to take a look at as it falls right in line with what you have said in this post.
