Why Outsource New Business?

The answer changes with the times

by David Currie

I’m often asked by agency CEO’s, CMO’s and New Business Directors, “What benefit will I see by outsourcing our business development to a third party”?

The simple answer, efficacy and accountability.

All too often the focus of a new business director is on items other than the procurement of new business, be it client services on previously won business, RFP responses or any number of things. It’s also a rare occurrence to meet a new business director that is a true hunter, someone that enjoys the ‘leg work’ of cold calling, emailing and prospecting. Most are truly farmers.

Outsourcing to a specialist company of hunters not only provides a steady stream of new business leads and opportunities, but they are also accountable each and every month.

New Business Directors are then able to concentrate on what they often do best – respond to RFP’s, run the pitch and win the business rather than prospect for it.

They no longer have to manage the new business database, create collateral, make all those important, but time consuming calls, or arrange quality new business meetings.

The trend of outsourcing new business continues to grow, and we look forward to growing with it.

Happy Hunting,
